Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

DeCoud, who registered 76 stops (62 solo) and six interceptions en route to a 2012 Pro Bowl selection, was released by the Falcons after posting just 65 tackles (44 solo) and no interceptions this past season. However, now on board with NFC South rivals Carolina, DeCoud could immediately assume a starting safety role given speculation surrounding the Panthers considering releasing Charles Godfrey for salary cap reasons. Coming off a torn Achilles, Godfrey's situation has yet to play out, but nonetheless, DeCoud should benefit from playing in a stout Panthers defense, which could allow him to improve on last season's statistical drop-off.
Decoud will touch down in Charlotte on Sunday for a visit with the Panthers, Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer reports.

RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2015

There was no outlook written for Thomas DeCoud.

2014

Signed with the Panthers this offseason after previously playing in Atlanta. A 2012 Pro-Bowler, DeCoud is expected to start at free safety and has averaged 73 tackles while making 14 interceptions over the past five seasons.

2013

DeCoud has emerged as one of the league's best safeties when it comes to making plays in coverage, so in leagues that reward heavily for interceptions he could be worth bumping up the rankings. He has 10 interceptions over the last two years, including six in 2012. He should continue to be active in pass defense in 2013, because the Falcons look like a team that will score a lot of points, so opposing quarterbacks will have no choice but to take chances. It also doesn't hurt that Atlanta plays in what might be the most pass-happy division in the league.

2012

DeCould will start at free safety in 2012, and he's coming off a successful 2011 campaign where he notched 86 tackles and four interceptions. He's increased his tackles total each of the last three years, and looks to be in line for another successful season. He should be expected to notch 80 total tackles and a handfull of interceptions.

2011

DeCoud will start at free safety for the Falcons in 2011. Last season he racked up 74 tackles, two forced fumbles and an interception, and we can expect similar numbers out of him this season. Opponents may be throwing more as the Falcons' offense will put up a bunch of points this season, so 80-85 tackles isn't out of the question.

2010

Decoud will start at free safety after solidifying that position in 2009 with 57 tackles.

2009

Slated to begin the season as the replacement for Lawyer Milloy at strong safety, but DeCoud is going to have to fight off a slew of willing defensive secondary players in training camp to keep his job.

2008

DeCoud will be the back up free safety in 2008, with some chance to play in nickel and dime formations pending his performance in training camp.
