RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Kraig Urbik.
Urbik is a highly experienced NFL veteran who is still in the prime of his career. In his six seasons in the league he has totaled 53 starts, mostly over the past few years. In 2015 he is likely a reserve on an under-rated Buffalo offensive line.
Starting right guard.
Urbik played well enough last year to earn a contract extension during the season. He is being viewed as the starter at right guard.
Urbik is expected to start at right guard for the Bills in 2012. He saw time at center last year after starter Eric Wood went down with a torn ACL, but missed Week 17 with a torn meniscus. Urbik is already fully recovered and the injury should not be an issue going forward.
Claimed off waivers by the Bills after being released by the Steelers last September. The current Bills coaching staff had him highly ranked coming out of the 2009 draft, and plan to start him at right guard so they can move Eric Wood to his more natural center spot.
Reserve offensive lineman.
With the concerns about the offensive line from 2008, it was no surprise the Steelers wanted to add infuse a player or two into the system for the future. Urbik can play either guard or tackle, but will likely be in the mix more at guard. He'll need a really strong training camp if he is going to earn a starting job, but he should still be able to grab a backup role.
