Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)Brinkley, who recorded 27 tackles in 15 games with the Cardinals last season, returns to the Vikings, where he played the first four seasons of his career, after being drafted by the team in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL draft. Brinkley started at middle linebacker for the Vikings in 2012, recording 99 tackles. His addition to the Vikings gives them some added depth at the position, following the release of Erin Henderson.
RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
Brinkley is likely to begin the season as Minnesota's starting middle linebacker. He may come out on nickel packages, but he could emerge as an IDP option in deeper leagues. However, we'll need to see if he can stay healthy as he missed all of last season after hip surgery and a groin injury held him out of minicamp.
Will provide depth at middle linebacker and could start in case of injury.
The hard hitting Brinkley will backup E.J. Henderson at the middle linebacker position. Brinkley won't play much with Henderson stuck in front of him but he will contribute on special teams and in various spot roles.
