Soliai will be released by the Panthers on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

ANALYSIS
Soliai signed a two-year, $7 million deal only last year. He was owed a $500,000 roster bonus March 11, so apparently Carolina didn't find the former Pro Bowler worth keeping. Soliai will look to find work as a run-stopper on an NFL roster in the coming months. He recorded only eight combined tackles in 2016 but has a big body to plug up lanes and allow other defenders to make plays, making him a valuable commodity.

Entering his tenth NFL season, Soliai joins the Panthers after spending the past couple years inside the division with the Falcons. With just 5.5 sacks across his career, the veteran is mostly used as a run-stuffer, and given Carolina's roster already features Kawann Short, Star Lotulelei and Vernon Butler at defensive tackle, Soliai will likely have to settle for a depth role in his new setting.

Soliai is currently projected to start as the nose tackle in the Falcons new 4-3 "under" scheme, but he'll have to prove his worth during training camp in his first season with the team. Should he hold down the position for the duration of the season, 30-40 tackles and a sack or two seems about right.

Soliai will anchor the starting nose tackle position for the Falcons in 2014. He adds some bulk to the defensive line, and he graded out well against the run last year. Another 30-40 tackle season is likely, but he's not much of a sack guy.

Soliai is a solid defensive tackle who can help collapse the pocket, but only has 3.5 sacks in his career and hasn't had more than 29 tackles in each of the past two seasons.

Soliai finally signed his long-term deal with the Dolphins this past off-season. With the contract off his mind Soliai should be able to concentrate on putting up the kind of numbers from the DT position that fantasy owners crave.

Soliai had the best season of his career last year, so much so that the Dolphins franchised him and are talking about a contract extension for him. Soliai is one of the best nose tackles in the game and could be an IDP player to grab in your drafts.

Solai's only chance at staying on the Dolphins roster is as a reserve defensive tackle and with the glut of talent at that position he may have trouble making the final roster.
