Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)Bowers, who missed the final three preseason games due to a groin injury, will sit out Week 1, as the Buccaneers and coach Lovie Smith consider the long-term ramifications. In three NFL campaigns, Bowers has underwhelmed, racking up 45 tackles (34 solo), 5.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery in 39 games.
RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
Bowers' fantasy value for 2013 has been put on hold until his legal situation figures itself out.
As Tampa Bay's second-round draft choice in 2011, Bowers made just 25 tackles (22 solo) and 1.5 sacks during his rookie campaign. The 22-year-old will be out indefinitely with a torn achilles tendon after starting 10 games and appearing in all 16 in 2011. He hasn't been placed on IR yet so there is an outside chance he makes an apperance in 2012 but its tough blow as Bowers was scheduled start at DE in 2012 for the Bucs.
Bowers could be the steal of the 2011 Draft if he is healthy. He at one time was considered the possible No.1 overall pick for the 2011 draft but slipped to the 2nd Round. due to major injury concerns. If those injury issues don't prove to be true or at least not that serious then Bowers could start at DE right away and make a lot of team sorry they passed on him.
