The Bears placed Harris (triceps) on injured reserve Thursday, Larry Mayer of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Harris suffered what the Bears believe to be a torn triceps during Monday's loss to the Vikings, but the full severity of his issue hasn't yet been officially confirmed. The team has already claimed a replacement return specialist off waivers in DeAndre Carter.

Harris saw only six total targets throughout 15 contests during his first year with the Raiders in 2018, but Oakland decided to re-sign the veteran on another one-year deal in order for Harris to continue serving as the team's primary return man. He amassed 663 kick return yards, 281 punt return yards and one touchdown on special teams last season, but Harris will be 32 in September and doesn't figure to be a part of the offensive game plan as Antonio Brown, Tyrell Williams and Hunter Renfrow likely round out the top of the receiving corps.
Entering his eighth year in the league, Harris heads to Oakland to compete for a roster spot as a return specialist. His 2017 campaign with the Giants was cut short due to a fractured foot, but he should be back at full strength for training camp and beyond.
Harris will serve as the team's primary kick returner. He had only one target last year, and with Brandon Marshall now on board, that's not likely to change significantly.
Harris was a valuable contributor to the Giants both as a part-time receiver and return man and should reprise those roles in 2015. But with Victor Cruz ostensibly returning and rookie Sterling Shepard likely to have a big impact, Harris' upside is even more limited this season in leagues that don't count return yards.
Harris will be at best the team’s fourth receiver behind Odell Beckham, Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle, and will have to beat out Preston Parker and a few others even for that role. Either way, The 5-10, 207-pound Harris should see work as a return man where his quickness is an asset.
The Cowboys' primary return man, Harris is capable of making a contribution in the passing game, but the club's selection of Devin Street in the draft indicates that they'd prefer to limit his snaps on offense. Barring injuries than force Dallas' hand, don't expect Harris to see many targets.
Harris finished with 17 catches for 222 yards and a touchdown as a rookie last season, adding 564 return yards and a punt return for a touchdown. He'll likely enter 2013 battling rookie Terrance Williams for snaps as the Cowboys' third wide receiver, and could have some value in that role should he win it.
Second-year pro has nice speed and elusiveness, and heads into camp with a real shot to win the Cowboys' fantasy-friendly third wide receiver job. His ability in the return game and on special teams also gives him an edge on some of his competition in terms of securing a 53-man roster spot, and if he can refine the rough edges on his offensive game he's certainly capable of being this year's Laurent Robinson.
6th round pick Harris will have to make his mark on special teams and possibly in the Wildcat as a rookie, but the Conference USA star could work his way up the WR depth chart if his rough edges can get smoothed out.
