RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Quinton Coples.
After notching a career-high 6.5 sacks in 2014, the Jets decided to keep him around and pick up the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. He also recorded 37 tackles and one forced fumble last season. Coples is slated to start at outside linebacker throughout the 2015 season.
Coples is likely to start at LB for the Jets in 2013.
There is certainly some risk in drafting Coples, particularly given that he is not only a rookie, but one playing the end spot in a 3-4 front. But he possesses rare upside and should see more pass-rushing work than most 3-4 ends, as he’s a good bet to move outside rather than to the tackle spot when the Jets run nickel and dime formations, and he could emerge as the Jets' sack leader in such a role. Mike DeVito is much less talented than Coples, but he finished the 2010 season with 59 tackles. Coples should make a good push for 60 tackles and eight sacks this year if he keeps his head on straight.
