RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Sean Spence.
Just as it was last season with the drafting of Ryan Shazier, Spence may lose some snaps in 2015 with the selection of Bud Dupree in the first round.
The Steelers' linebacking corps was bolstered by drafting Ryan Shazier, which could cut in to Spence's playing time, limiting his fantasy value.
Spence faces stiff competition at linebacker and is not a lock to make the 53-man roster.
Spence is undersized by NFL standards, but his instincts and athleticism give him a chance to overcome that limitation. More importantly, the Steelers are thin at inside linebacker, where only Larry Foote and Stevenson Sylvester are behind Lawrence Timmons. Sylvester is an intriguing player, but Foote is below average, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he loses to both Spence and Sylvester on the depth chart. If Spence comes out as a starter, expect at least 100 tackles.
