2013

Smelley will compete with Owen Marecic and recently signed Brock Bolen for the fullback duties in 2013.

2012

Smelley's biggest claim to fame as a seventh-round selection in this year's draft is that he was Trent Richardson's lead-blocker at Alabama. This familiarity may earn him some playing time, but he's not as big, or as talented a blocker as Owen Marecic. He'll likely excel on special teams should he make the final roster, and perhaps get some work out of the backfield or in the slot as an H-back as he has been praised for having soft hands, but he doesn't figure to be anywhere near the fantasy radar in 2012.
