Knee - ACL
June 5, 2018
The Browns released Carder (knee) on Tuesday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Carder's dismissal ends his five-year stint in Cleveland after the 29-year-old joined the Browns on a waiver claim in September 2012. The TCU product served as a backup middle linebacker during his run in Cleveland, offering his most significant impact on the team's special-teams units. Carder was deemed expendable after the Browns reached agreement Monday with fellow linebacker Mychal Kendricks on a one-year deal.

2012
Carder will attempt to crack the 2015 roster as a reserve inside linebacker, but his main contribution to the team would likely be on special teams.
Carder will provide the Browns with inside linebacker depth in 2014, but barring an injury, will likely see most of his reps on special teams.
Carder will fill a backup role as an inside linebacker in 2013.
Carder was the best defensive player in the Mountain West Conference the last two seasons, but there are some issues as to how his ability will translate to the pro game, hence the reason he lasted until the fifth round of the 2012 draft. For his first go-round, he projects as either a backup/special teams guy or practice squad player. His best hope is to win the backup job to starting MLB Kelvin Sheppard.
