Davis was released by the Titans on Monday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Released by Seattle at the end of the 2018 preseason, Davis had two stints on the Titans' roster when Marcus Mariota (elbow) was dealing with injuries. The 29-year-old quarterback hasn't thrown a pass in a regular-season game since 2015.

Davis served as Russell Wilson's backup in 2017, logging just five offensive snaps and not throwing a pass. The seventh-year pro will compete with rookie seventh-round pick Alex McGough to be Wilson's backup again. Expending a draft pick on McGough may give him a slight advantage, but Davis has more experience, although he hasn't thrown a TD since 2015.
Davis will compete with Trevone Boykin to be the backup quarterback. Boykin is the incumbent, but his run-ins with the law seemingly opened the door for a change. Davis will have to outplay him in camp, though. Davis has more experience, starting 10 games in his career, but Boykin is more talented.
Across three total games in 2015, Davis recorded just 547 yards and one touchdown. With Robert Griffin coming to town, and Josh McCown in the wings, Davis doesn’t project to make any more starts in 2016, but given the extension he signed last September, he figures to stick around as the No. 3 signal caller.
Davis spent the first half of 2015 as the St. Louis starting quarterback, amassing 2,000 yards passing with 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions. The turnovers started to catch up with him, however, and he was replaced by Shaun Hill. Davis singed on with the Browns in September to provide depth behind starter Josh McCown.
Davis has yet to appear in an NFL game, and the signing of Shaun Hill as the backup in the offseason doesn't help his chances. Unless Sam Bradford and Hill both go down, Austin will be holding a clipboard all season.
Davis will battle Kellen Clemens for the backup quarterback spot but will not see any action this season unless something happens to Sam Bradford.
