RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
Wilhoite had his most-productive season as a pro in 2015, racking up 85 tackles in 12 games starting alongside NaVorro Bowman. He went down with an ankle injury late last season and Gerald Hodges filled in admirably, thus creating a competition for a starting spot during the preseason. Throw Ray-Ray Armstrong into the mix and you have a competition that will provide a huge IDP boost to whoever comes out on top. Wilhoite figures to be the early favorite given his experience and recent success last season.
Wilhoite (87 combined tackles, two interceptions) will start alongside NaVorro Bowman in the 49ers' 3-4 scheme. He is a solid real life linebacker, but he doesn't particularly excel in any statistical category to be valued highly in IDP leagues.
Wilhoite is the leading candidate to fill the vacated inside linebacker position left by NaVorro Bowman (knee).
Wilhoite will work as a back-up inside linebacker but won;t see the field enough during the season to have any fantasy relevance.
