Knile Davis: Past News Updates   ( ▲ View most recent update )

Davis is recovering from a left knee sprain and fibula fracture that he suffered in the Chiefs' first-round playoff loss to the Colts this past Saturday, the Kansas City Star reports.

Davis suffered a knee injury and will not return to Saturday's playoff game against the Colts, ESPN's Stephania Bell reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

With Jamaal Charles (concussion) ruled out earlier in the game, the Chiefs are now down to just one halfback, Cyrus Gray. Luckily for Kansas City, WR Dexter McCluster was a running back in college. Look for Gray to see most of the snaps at halfback, with McCluster possibly getting a bit of work. Davis finishes the day with 18 carries for 67 yards and a touchdown, adding seven receptions for 33 yards and another score.
Davis (leg) left Saturday's game in the fourth quarter with an apparent leg/ankle injury, Kevin Bowen of Colts.com reports.

Opportunity knocks for Davis in Week 17, with NFL.com's Ian Rapoport indicating that the Chiefs plan to rest Jamaal Charles on Sunday.

Davis is a candidate for added work this weekend, if coach Andy Reid limits or rests Jamaal Charles on Sunday against the Chargers, ESPN.com reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Reid has yet to declare whether or not he plans to rest his starters, but with the Chiefs locked into the fifth seed in the AFC, Charles is a candidate to earn some rest in advance of the playoffs. For his part, Davis touched the ball four times and fumbled it twice (losing one) in Week 16, but Sunday's regular-season finale could give him a chance to bounce back in a relatively low-pressure situation, should the team choose to limit Charles.

2013

A remarkable size-speed specimen, the 6-0, 230-pound Davis ran a 4.37 40 and did 31 bench press reps at this year's Combine. The Chiefs drafted him in the third round in hopes of landing the one-cut-and-explode runner who was once a college phenom, not the injured back who lost 2011 to an ankle injury that continued to make him ineffective last year. Although durability and a history of fumbling are concerns, Davis' physical gifts and potential are undeniable, making him an intriguing insurance policy for Jamaal Charles.
