RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Dee Milliner.
Milliner has disappointed significantly since being chosen in the first round of the 2013 draft, and while some of the issues have been injury-related, he's been woefully overmatched even when healthy. The Jets declined the fifth-year option on his contract, so while he may have something to prove this season as he seeks a new deal at the end of the year, he won't likely get enough playing time to make an impact.
The 2013 first-round draft pick saw his disappointing 2014 campaign come to an end in Week 6 due to a torn Achilles. The Jets added Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie, and Buster Skrine this offseason to play cornerback, so Milliner will need to get back to full health and battle for playing time among the talented group throughout the season. He'll miss the first eight weeks of the season with a wrist injury, as the team placed him on injured reserve/designated-to-return.
Coming off of an up-and-down rookie year, Milliner will be counted on to take a major step forward given the departures of Ed Reed and Antonio Cromartie. Milliner intercepted three passes in the final two games of last season, but he'll need to be more consistent, as he'll likely be matched up with the opponent's top wideout most weeks.
Milliner is expected to compete with Kyle Wilson for the starting cornerback spot opposite Antonio Cromartie.
