The Jaguars released Nassib on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Nassib was the third quarterback on the Jaguars' depth chart, rendering him expendable in order to boost depth on the offensive line. He figures to be a prime candidate to land on the team's practice squad. The 27-year-old played just two games with the team.

Drew Brees will once again enter the year as the starting quarterback, and offseason addition Chase Daniel is expected to serve as his primary backup. It's unclear whether the Saints will roster a third quarterback, but if they do, Nassib, who signed with the Saints this offseason and is entering his fifth NFL season, will need a strong preseason to secure the job over third-year pro Garrett Grayson.
Nassib is slated to back up Eli Manning once again this year. Given Manning's track record of durability there's not much data about Nassib's skill set, but in the unlikely event Nassib gets a shot, the Giants are loaded at receiver with Odell Beckham, rookie Sterling Shepard and likely some version of Victor Cruz.
Nassib hasn’t had many opportunities under center due to Eli Manning’s continue good health, and he will back up the younger Manning again this season. Should he go down, Nassib would have some of the best weapons in the league with Odell Beckham, Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle and Shane Vereen and Rashad Jennings coming out of the backfield.
Will vie for the backup job behind Eli Manning.
Nassib will likely battle David Carr for the Giant's backup QB spot.
