Michael Campanaro: Past News Updates   ( ▲ View most recent update )

Campanaro (back) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Campanaro's initial prognosis was that he was week-to-week with a herniated disc, so the Ravens either opted for surgery or wanted to conceal yet another blow to an already shallow group of receivers while they negotiated a trade for Chris Givens. With Campanaro out, Steve Smith still nursing a back injury, and first-round draft pick Breshad Perriman (knee) requiring surgery, it looks like Givens, Kamar Aiken and Marlon Brown could see a decent share of Joe Flacco's receiver targets in the near future.

Campanaro has a tear in his quad and will be out until training camp, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Campanaro suffered the injury during Wednesday's practice, forcing him to leave the field to undergo additional tests. An MRI revealed the muscle tear, which will sideline Campanro for a couple months and, presumably, the rest of OTA's. Campanaro is expected to compete for the No. 3 receiver spot this season and could also be a special teams option.
