Long Term or IR

Jordan Staal (F) Pittsburgh - (Foot Infection) Eligible to return from IR on Oct. 24, but likely out until November.
Brian Campbell (D) Chicago - (Knee) Counting down the weeks now, probably about three more.

Transactions

James Wisniewski (D) Islanders - Suspended two games, eligible to return Saturday.
Andrew Hutchinson (D) Pittsburgh - Recalled from the AHL to replace Orpik or Michalek Wednesday.
Jiri Tlusty (F) Carolina - Assigned to the AHL on a conditioning stint.
Adam Mair (F) New Jersey - Signed by New Jersey Tuesday due to injuries.
Jeff Finger (D) Toronto - Placed on waivers Tuesday by Toronto.
Kirk Maltby (F) Detroit - Announced his retirement Tuesday, more character than most.
Kris Draper (F) Detroit - Placed on IR Tuesday but could return later in week.
Thomas Greiss (G) San Jose - Placed on waivers Sunday and hasn't been claimed, surprisingly.

Hot

Jordan Leopold (D) Buffalo - Enjoy the ride, four points (2, 2) in three games, while he's healthy.  He's teased more than one team in his career with his offensive potential, but hasn't totaled more than 33 points in seven seasons. Still, with an acquisition cost of next to nothing, Leopold is taking advantage of opportunity. Pump-and-Dump.
Steven Stamkos (F) Tampa Bay - He's on a pace for a 246-point season after his three-point performance in the opener. Remember when 200 points was doable or at least thinkable?
Mark Letestu (F) Pittsburgh - Letestu has a pair of goals in three games and is skating as a top-six forward.  Who knows if he can keep it going, but he's a good play in the meantime (and likely available almost universally).

Cold

Tyler Myers (D) Buffalo - Myers is a minus-5 after three games. He wasn't minus-5 in three consecutive games at any point during his rookie year. Hopefully this is just an anomaly.
Brian Rafalski (D) Detroit - How can someone go from "Hot" to "Cold" so fast? Knee Surgery - he's out 3-4 weeks. Was he the second best American player in the Olympics?

Recommended Pickup

Jason Pominville (concussion) or other overreactions on Yahoo! Pominville was dropped in 1,951 leagues Tuesday. Get ready to pounce on Pominville or other players that fidgety owners dump at a moment's notice.
