The Daily Puck: Unheralded Superstar?

Around the Rink

Sidney Crosby continues to make progress from a concussion. He'll travel with his team to Tampa Bay and take part in the game-day skate Thursday. Crosby still won't give or take contact for an undetermined amount of time. As a result, it's safe to drop him in non-keeper leagues unless you think he'll score a hat trick in the regular season finale.

Alexander Ovechkin returned from a three-game, undisclosed-injury absence Tuesday night.

The Penguins have scored two power-play goals in the month of March.

Is Corey Perry the best player the NHL has yet to hype? He's tied for the league lead in goals scored (44) with Steven Stamkos.

Kings rookie goalie Jonathan Bernier has three shutouts in his last nine starts. Fantasy owners have to hope the other Jonathan gets traded prior to 2011-12.

Are the Leafs doing this well because the pressure is off of them and no one expects them to make the postseason, or is this a sign of things to come?

Cam Ward has started 68 of Carolina's 76 games. He's got to be tired, doesn't he? Unless the 'Canes pick things up in a hurry, Ward's offseason will start when the playoffs commence.

Who's Hot

Cam Fowler - He's emerged from hibernation to record seven points (2, 5) in his last eight contests and is likely available on plenty of waivers.

Logan Couture - Another freshman who's gotten his second wind. Couture has scored five goals and nine points in

Who's Not

Tobias Enstrom - The offensive defender has gone seven straight without nary a point. He's too good to scrap. Wonder if he's just tired of playing for the Thrashers.

Mike Green - He's seen a 50-point drop in an injury-plagued season. His biggest moment might've been riding a kid-like motor scooter during HBO's 24/7.

Recommended Pickup

Alexander Edler - Edler has missed the last couple months but could come back for the last couple games of the regular season.
