Lance Lynn, SP, STL
Maikel Cleto, RP, STL

Sent Down
Dallas McPherson, 3B, CHW

Placed on DL
Matt Holliday, OF, STL
Taylor Buchholz, RP, NYM
Kyle McClellan, SP, STL

Activated from DL
Jose Reyes, SS, NYM (from bereavement)

Closer Watch - A closer look at intriguing ninth-inning situations (check out our Closer Grid with the link to the left).

Washington - Drew Storen broke a string of three straight outings in which he surrendered a run, allowing only a bunt single en route to collecting his 10th save Wednesday against the Phillies.

Houston - Mark Melancon collected his fourth save with a fine inning of work Wednesday, and he's pitched so well this year, Brandon Lyon may not have a job when he returns.

St. Louis - Fernando Salas was called on in the ninth Wednesday against the Giants, and he blew it, allowing Nate Schierholtz's game-tying single. Eduardo Sanchez looms; he threw a scoreless inning Wednesday, but Salas will probably be given some rope, as that was his first blown save of the season.

Recommended Pickup

Ben Revere, OF, MIN - Got a need for speed? Revere's swiped 40-plus bases twice in the minors, and he picked up 36 last season. He's completely lacking in power, but with a .326 career batting average in the minor leagues and terrific speed, he could pay dividends for a Twins team that's gotten less-than-ideal offensive contributions from Delmon Young and Michael Cuddyer in the outfield. Revere stole two bags in 15 games (33 at-bats) earlier this year.

Other recent recommendations: Chris Iannetta, Eric Young Jr., Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Andrew Oliver, John Jay
