Closer Watch

Pittsburgh - A perfect ninth inning against the Cubs on Thursday earned Jason Grilli his MLB-leading 19th save of the season. It's somewhat hard to fathom that a guy who came into this year with just four career saves could be doing what he's doing, but the right-hander has been outstanding since joining the Pirates in 2011. Grilli got Welington Castillo and Luis Valbuena looking back-to-back to end Thursday's contest, and in the process improved his strikeout-to-walk ratio on the year to a ridiculous 34:5.
