Closer Watch

Tigers – Joaquin Benoit nailed down his seventh save Monday, continuing his trend of being generally outstanding. He's given up just one run in his last 11 appearances (11.1 innings), practically never walks anyone and misses plenty of bats. He may not give up this job even if the Tigers acquire some more relief talent.

Brewers – Francisco Rodriguez notched his ninth save Monday, and he continues to look like a new man. Jim Henderson and John Axford collected holds, too, so it was a banner day for all the Brewers' relief options. Something tells me Henderson ends up with this job after K-Rod inevitably falters or is sold high at the deadline.

Recommended Pickup
Grant Green, 2B, OAK – After hitting .318/.374/.500 with 11 homers and 49 RBI in Triple-A, Green's finally punched his ticket to the majors. Oakland's first-round pick (13th overall) in 2009, Green has shown the ability to hit for both power and average in the minors. Better still, he's cut down on his strikeouts significantly over the last two years after posting a pair of big-K seasons in the low minors. Though he'll start off in a platoon at second with Eric Sogard, Green could very reasonably hit his way into a lot more playing time, and fast.

Other Recent Recommendations: Rajai Davis, Jeremy Hefner, DJ LeMahieu, Wilson Ramos, Michael Brantley
