DraftKings NFL: Saturday Preseason Picks

DraftKings NFL: Saturday Preseason Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NFL series.

After a couple small slates during the week, Saturday is full go with nine games in the third week of the preseason. The options are seemingly endless, but I'll try to find the players who will likely play at least three quarters.

QUARTERBACK

Trevor Siemian, DEN vs. GB: After being named starter, Siemian should play into the third quarter in this game. Conveniently, the Packers' secondary is still one of the worst in the league, which should help matters. Siemian's been fine in the first two games with 144 yards and a touchdown and should surpass that total against the Packers.

RUNNING BACK

James Conner, PIT vs. IND: I'm kind of torn on this play because Fitzgerald Toussaint is the actual starter. Still, Toussaint played just two series last week, while Conner was in the backfield the rest of the game en route to 20 carries for 98 yards. Going against a defense that has been gashed so far, Conner may not see as many touches, but he should reach at least 10 carries.

Tyler Ervin, HOU at NO:
This may be a stretch, but the Texans already know what Lamar Miller can do and they don't want to give him too many carries in the preseason. And with D'Onta Foreman and Alfred Blue banged up, Ervin could see plenty of run in this game, even with the first unit. He had four touches last game and should improve a bunch on that total.

WIDE RECEIVER

Amari Cooper, OAK at DAL: Cooper and Derek Carr looked great in their preseason debut with Carr tossing for 100 yards and two touchdowns on nine pass attempts. Cooper didn't get one of those touchdowns, but that's what I'm aiming for against a mediocre secondary.

Bennie Fowler, DEN vs. GB:
My attack on the Green Bay secondary continues. I'm not sure how much time Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders will see, but Fowler is the expected third receiver in the offense and needs all the reps he can get. If Fowler stays in the game as long as Siemian, that's all he'll need to have success.

Tommylee Lewis, NO vs. HOU:
The Saints love airing it out no matter the season. Lewis dropped off after catching 10 balls in the first game, but I'll back him to get a few more grabs against Houston. Michael Thomas is probably the smarter play, but the Saints are one of the few teams willing to pass no matter who is at quarterback. What's more, the Texans backups haven't been good in the preseason giving up the sixth-most yards per game (363.5).

TIGHT END

Tyler Higbee, LAR vs. LAC: Rico Gathers was the perfect play at tight end, but he's injured. Higbee only has two catches in the preseason, but he is playing plenty and is the top tight end for the Rams. If he can finally get a few targets, that will hopefully turn into something positive.

FLEX

Alvin Kamara, NO vs. HOU: Every time Kamara has touched the ball in preseason something good has happened. With the Texans' first-string defense likely not playing more than half the game, Kamara could once again capitalize on his touches, which will hopefully be more than five.

DEFENSE

Baltimore Ravens vs. BUF: I've been high on the Ravens' defense all preseason and that won't change with the Bills on the other side. The Ravens have allowed just 10 points in two games, while the Bills have scored only 26 points. Baltimore could be set to allow single digits again.
