Hargreaves will play a pivotal role in the defense during his rookie season, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. “He’s going to play,'' coach Dirk Koetter said Thursday as the team wrapped up its three-day mandatory minicamp. "The guy has made plays every single day. Vernon is the football player we thought when we drafted him. He’s going to play. It will all fall in place. We're very confident Vernon can either play inside in the nickel or outside.''
Ayers, who described the state of the defensive line as "terrible" early in the offseason, has seen the unit progress over the last several weeks, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. "We're a little less terrible," Ayers said. "We're getting better and that's all we can ask for. We're trying to get to the end of the tunnel, so each day is a day to get better, a day to prepare, a day for me and my guys to get to know each other better and grow as a unit and build a chemistry."
Robinson, an offseason acquistion most recently with the Vikings, practiced on both the second-team defense and special teams in Tuesday's mini-camp session, Joe Kania of the team's official site reports.
Winston is being put through increased no-huddle and scramble drills during mini-camp now that he has a full grasp of the offense, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports. "Jameis can handle a lot and does handle a lot every day," said [head coach Dirk] Koetter. "He can handle more than we’re giving him. Compared to last year at this time, he knows way, way more than he did a year ago at this time. Also if you remember a year ago at this time, he was probably throwing three or four interceptions every single day and you saw even when things broke down today, Jameis pulled the ball down and ran. That’s one thing we’ve been working hard on is our scramble drill."
Seferian-Jenkins took full responsibility Tuesday for both being asked to leave last Thursday's OTA session, and for his social media communications with fans following the incident, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
