Pavin finished in the top 10 in a whopping 25 percent of the events he entered last season. Problem is, he only teed it up eight times. Those two top-10s, however, were enough to place him within the top 125. Most of his earnings came from a runner-up finish at the Travelers Championship. Pavin's time is now split between the PGA TOUR and the Champions Tour, so his value to fantasy golfers is limited. Since Pavin doesn't play much, he doesn't have much use in rotisserie leagues, either.
Pavin is on the downside of an amazing career, but the little UCLA Bruin is a true champion. I will go with a young gun, but I enjoy Pavin's game.
Pavin ranked 196th in driving distance last year. That number certainly led to his 145th rank in greens hit. Why point that out? Simple, there just aren't many events on tour where Pavin can compete anymore. He took full advantage of the shorter courses last year in a big way. A way that's not likely to be repeated in 2007.
