ANALYSIS
The steady veteran O'Hern hung around on Sunday but never found separation from the large group of contenders. Nonetheless he notched his first top-10 in 2012 and is a solid pick at positional courses where accurate irons are paramount.

With his PGA Tour life on the line, Nick O'Hern needed every bit of his consecutive sixth-place finishes to end the season. While that buys O'Hern another year on the PGA Tour, it doesn't exactly bode well for his prospects this season. O'Hern's better days on the golf course are by him, but he can still manage a good showing every now and then.
O'Hern is a very steady player, but there's nothing spectacular about his game. His crowning achievement to date was taking out Tiger Woods in the WGC match play event a few years back, but that was one round of golf. O'Hern seems more dedicated to the PGA TOUR as he's increased his load over here the last three years, but it hasn't made much of a difference.
O'Hern has improved his earnings number each of the last two seasons. The problem is, the improvement has been slight each time. It's possible that O'Hern's ceiling on this tour is somewhere around $1.5 million.
O'Hern played more on the PGA Tour in 2007 than in any previous year. That's the good news, the bad news is he missed the cut over 33 percent of the time. It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. O'Hern seems like a solid player who should perform better than that. Perhaps beating Tiger Woods in the match play event has distorted the way we view O'Hern. Perhaps he's not any better than the names surrounding him on the money list. This would be a good time to disprove that theory, but I am not sure that he will this year.
O'Hern was supposed to have more of an impact on the PGA Tour last year. O'Hern played the minimum amount of events on the PGA Tour last year to keep his card, which makes one wonder about his commitment to the tour. He has been known for playing well during big events, but he didn't show that form last year. The only way his numbers will increase is if his production during these same 15 events increases because it's highly unlikely he's going to tee it up more than 15 times in 2007.
Like Immelman, O'Hern played in many events last year, 13, but had little success. Best finish came came at the WGC Match Play events, where he finished fifth.
