Hoey (No. Ireland) was disqualified following his completed second round for signing an incorrect scorecard at the PGA Championship.
ANALYSIS
After signing for a 2-under 70, Hoey realized he failed to re-create his lie on the ninth hole after removing his ball from an embedded lie to make sure it was his ball. Hoey had wiped the sand from his ball on the ninth hole. His mistake was not replacing the sand on the ball. He was DQ'd for not including the two-shot penalty - thus he signed an incorrect scorecard. Hoey called attention to his oversight to the attention of the rules officials.
