RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2006

The Gamez story is well known. He came out of the gate as a rookie in 1990 and won twice. He then proceeded to have little success the next 10 years. He's gone through a resurgence over the last few years, but I'm not sold. He needed a win late last year to hang onto his card for this year. The consistency isn't there, and it's doubtful we'll see him during the regular season. Prior to his late-September win, his best finish was ninth at the Sony Open in January. Between that effort and his win he carded no top-10s and only two top-25s. Keep in mind that we are talking about an eight-month span.

2004

Gamez finally put together a full year in 2003. The only problem is he made most of his money in two events. Those two events were the only time he could muster Top 10 finishes, and that was in 31 tries. At this point in his career, Gamez is just too inconsistent to chase the $1.5 million he earned last season.
