June 12, 2016
Guthrie shot a 4-under 66 to move up 20 places and finish in a tie for twelfth at the Fed Ex St. Jude Classic.
ANALYSIS
Guthrie came shooting out of the gates in the final round, carding five birdies in the first eight holes, and making a run at the leaders. He slowed down at the turn, however, with bogeys at ten and twelve, stopping the run but recording his highest finish of 2016. The 26-year-old will look to build on this performance in the upcoming weeks, but will not be making the trip to Oakmont for the US Open.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2013
After a strong rookie season where he earned nearly $1 million, Guthrie appeared to be on his way up the ranks of the PGA Tour. Something happened however during his second season and Guthrie regressed a bit. With that said, he has the look of a guy who's going to get better and at this price, it wouldn't take much to improve significantly on his numbers from last season. As such, Guthrie looks like a very solid pick in salary cap formats this season. In draft leagues he should go higher than his spot on the 2014 money list, somewhere near the 9th round, possibly higher.
Guthrie started the 2013 season well with a pair of top-10s, but he never found that form again the rest of the year. That is to be expected from a young player though as last year was his first full year on the PGA Tour. Guthrie posted a top-5 during the 2013-2014 portion of the season and he has the potential to be a break-out player in 2014. At this price, he's worth a long hard look as he could be the Billy Horschel of this season.
Guthrie reached the PGA Tour through the Web.com Tour. He opened people’s eyes by winning back-to-back events on that circuit this year, the Albertsons Boise Open and the WNB Golf Classic, en route to a second-place finish on the season-ending money list. With a playoff loss earlier in the season added in, Guthrie had seven top-10s in 2012 in just 10 starts, insanely impressive for a golfer who just turned pro in 2012. If he can adjust to the bright lights of the PGA TOUR fast, watch out.
