Barring a last minute change of heart, Conroy will announce his retirement Thursday, the Toronto Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
"I gotta talk to my girls. I just don't think going down (to the minors) is an option," Conroy said. "I'm gonna decide tomorrow but right now I'm leaning to (retiring)." If he retires, Conroy will finish his 18-year career with 182 goals and 542 points in 1,009 regular season games.

Conroy retired after an 18-year NHL career that saw the Potsdam, New York native play in over 1,000 games with 542 career points.
Conroy actually had the highest plus/minus on the team last season, with a plus-20, and he also added 48 points to the mix. However, Conroy will be 38 when the season begins and he's now the team's third-line center. He should still be a positive contributor to the Flames, but won't have much of an effect on anyone's fantasy squad.
When Conroy rejoined the Flames at the end of 2006-07, it appeared Conroy had recaptured some of his fantasy value, scoring 21 points in 28 games. But Controy took a step back last season, scoring only 34 points in 79 games and losing his spot alongside Iginla on the first line. Matthew Lombardi has shown flashes of brilliance the past few seasons, and may be the No. 2 center this season, which diminishes Conroy's fantasy value even further. Avoid him on draft day.
Conroy's numbers were drastically reduced last season, as he fell from 66 points to 37 points and a plus-13 to a minus-3. However, if you take just his numbers from Calgary and transpose them to an entire season, he would have ended up with around 61 points and a plus-29. The trade to Calgary really rejuvenated the veteran, as he immediately gelled with Iginla and Tanguay. An entire season with the two should spark Conroy's output even further, perhaps even to the 80-point mark.
This veteran will be called up to center the top scoring line for the Kings. 70 points is a good possibility, but that depends on his linemates.
Conroy is most likely the third line center with the addition of Jeremy Roenick and Pavol Demitra. His point totals have declined the past few seasons and expect more of the same from him.
