Pyatt agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Swedish side Skelleftea AIK on Friday.
ANALYSIS
After being waived by the Senators in January of 2019, Pyatt was traded twice, first to Vancouver then San Jose. Even with two additional opportunities, the winger was unable to earn his way back up from the minors. A move to Europe likely marks the end of the 32-year-old's time in the NHL, which would see him eventually retire with 43 goals, 58 helpers and 522 shots in 445 games.

Pyatt's two best offensive years have come in Ottawa, but there's reason to believe a regression is coming. For one, he's on the wrong side of 30, having turned 31 in February. For another, the Senators are likely to struggle this year which could lead to ice time being given to younger players, as opposed to veterans like Pyatt. His value will be limited to good matchups in daily leagues.
Pyatt was a solid bottom-six contributor for Ottawa in 2016-17, notching 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) and 95 shots on goal in 82 games, but the veteran forward doesn't have enough offensive upside to warrant consideration in the majority of fantasy formats. he'll be a key member of the Senators’ penalty-killing unit next season, but his otherwise limited role will prevent him from being a viable option in season-long fantasy leagues.
Pyatt had an outstanding 2012-13. He came three points shy of matching his career best of 19 points in just 43 games. Still, his value lies on the ice rather than in the fantasy arena -- he'll likely roll as the Bolts' third (or fourth) center.
Pyatt is the perfect blue-collar forward. He scored 12 goals and 19 points in 74 games with the Bolts last season, and that gives him the inside edge on a job this year. The 12 goals give him some waiver value, but that's only if you can catch lightning in a bottle.
Pyatt is a solid PK specialist who has a chance to slot into Sean Bergeheim's spot on the Bolts' roster. But his two-way contract could just as easily see him in the AHL depending on coach Guy Boucher's direction -- offense or hustle -- with his lower lines. He's a lunch-bucket type who is loved by his mates and fans but really doesn't have a spot in many fantasy formats.
Pyatt only produced five points in 40 games last year as he scored two goals and added three assists. The Canadiens are wondering whether the talented winger will bulk up to play on the checking line or if he will work on his skills and speed to be a scoring machine like the 2006-07 season for the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL, where he produced 43 goals and 81 points in 58 games. It should be safe to assume he will produce more then five points for the 2010-11 season, but how great of a leap is yet to be determined.
