Wannstrom has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Blues.

ANALYSIS
The 2010 second-rounder, who recorded 10 points in 37 games with AHL Chicago this past season, gives the Blues depth up front, but he'd need to have a strong camp in order to earn a roster spot with the big club to start the season.

Wannstrom signed an entry-level deal with St. Louis this past summer, but has a foot injury that will keep him out indefinitely. He's yet to show much in the Elite Swedish League, but was very productive in the Swedish junior leagues.

Wannstrom, selected 44th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, is a skilled and physical forward, who can work on a scoring or a checking line. He was a big producer for Byrnas in the junior league of Sweden, and will try to make the transition to the Elitserien, Sweden's top pro league.
