ANALYSIS
Warsofsky spent the entirety of the 2020-21 season in the minors, racking up 19 points through 22 games with AHL Chicago. It wouldn't be surprising to see the 31-year-old blueliner spend the rest of his playing career overseas. If that ends up coming to fruition, Warsofsky will finish his NHL career having totaled 11 points through 55 appearances split between the Bruins, Penguins, Devils and Avalanche.

Warsofsky dressed for a career-high 16 contests during the 2017-18 campaign, adding a career-best plus-4 rating, but the offseason addition of Ian Cole doesn't bode well for his chances of increasing his role among the defensemen this season. The journeyman will likely remain a fringe NHL player again in 2018-19, but most of his time will likely be mainly spent in the minors, drawing into 47 contests for AHL San Antonio last year.
The Bruins boast one of the deeper blue line corps in the league, but make no mistake, the 5-foot-8, 170-pound Warsofsky is knocking on the NHL door. After a 2013-14 season in which he notched 32 points and a plus-8 rating in 56 games for AHL Providence, he has a chance to stick with the big club with a strong training camp. In six NHL games last season, Warsofsky held his own, recording a goal and an assist in six contests. Like most smallish blueliners, Warsofsky relies heavily on his mobility, and while he’s not exactly a carbon copy of Torey Krug, there are obvious parallels to their games. If/when Warsofsky gets his chance this season, his fantasy utility figures to hinge on whether or not he sees power play duty. It’s a role he’s capable of handling, though it may take an injury or two for that opportunity to present itself.
Warsofsky actually made the Bruins' initial roster to start the 2012-13 season, but he didn’t suit up for the big club. In his second full pro season, he recorded a modest 16 points in 58 games, but the Bruins clearly see something in the 5-foot-9, 170-pounder who relies heavily on his mobility.
Warsofsky was AHL Providence’s top-scoring blueliner last season, with 29 points in 66 games. His size is an issue, as Warsofsky is just 5-8, 160 pounds, but the mobile Boston University product does possess some upside as a puck-mover if he eventually proves that he is capable of withstanding the rigors of the NHL.
At 5-9, 170-pounds, size is the main knock on Warsofsky. Stature aside, he's a mobile, puck-moving defenseman, who adds depth and upside to the organization's blue line.
At 5-9, 170-pounds, size is the main knock on the 20-year-old Warsofsky, who is currently a junior at Boston University. Stature aside, he's a mobile, puck-moving defenseman, who will add depth to the organization's blue line.
