Rourke has signed a one-year contract to play with Ingoldstadt in the German League, according to the Edmonton Journal.

ANALYSIS
Rourke filled in admirably when Sheldon Souray and Joni Pitkanen missed time with injuries last season, but was no more than a seventh defenseman in Edmonton.

Rourke has some decent offensive ability from the backline, but seems best suited for the AHL. If he does see time with the Oilers, it will be in the event of an injury.

Rourke has called the AHL home for most of the last six seasons. Unless the team gets hit by the injuries, he will likely start the season there again.

A defenseman with a little bit of skill offensively. Has not been able to make the transition from the AHL to NHL. May see some time with the Isles, but only as call up when the injury bug hits.
