Adam Pardy: Past News Updates ( ▲ View most recent update )
RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
After Buffalo spurned him, Pardy signed a one-year deal with Winnipeg. The change of scenery may help, but for now leave Pardy on the wire.
Pardy, acquired in the offseason trade that sent Derek Roy to Dallas, will provide depth on a Sabres blue line that was hampered by injuries last season. Pardy himself only managed three points in 30 games in Dallas last season as he too dealt with injuries. He's healthy to begin the season but will likely be in and out of the lineup if he is able to break camp with the Sabres.
Pardy was Dallas' initial splash in the free agent market, and someone managed a two-year deal despite missing most of the season with shoulder problems. He's expected to compete for a spot on the third defensive pair for Dallas as camp opens.
To look at Pardy's 2008-09 season totals will not tell you the whole story. He managed ten points (1 G, 9 A) in 60 games and was a +3. He also recorded 69 penalty minutes. The Flames are very high in him and believe he has a bright future. He may take another step forward this season but don't expect a ton of fantasy value, especially since Calgary is very deep on the blue line. His stellar defensive play will keep him on the ice and he could certainly wind up as a viable fantasy player in the not too distant future.
Pardy was selected to the AHL All-Star Game in 2007-08 for his solid blue-line play. He's not a huge scorer, but is stellar defensively. He should see some time in the NHL this season if he doesn't make the team out of camp.
