RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
The 22-year-old center Shore played 43 games with the Panthers last season in which he recorded three goals and 10 assists. His rookie season ended in wrist surgery, but the nagging injury may have been holding him back a bit during the season. He'll probably be the fourth-line center again this season, but don't be surprised if he gets moved up if his production increases.
Shore, a solid, two-way centerman, enters Panthers camp looking to grab hold of a roster spot and an opportunity to make an impact at the NHL level. Shore made the jump from college to the pros signing an entry-level contract halfway through last season; the former second-round pick will look to build upon a solid college career where he posted 99 points over his final two seasons at the University of Denver.
Shore was taken in last year's draft with the 44th overall draft pick. Overall, he's a bit raw and inconsistent, though he has plenty of time to tweak his game with more experience in what will be his Sophomore at the University of Denver, in 2010-11.
Shore will leave the U.S. National Team Development Program in his wake and head off to Denver University, where he'll get a chance to play in a conference known for its skating and scoring. He's still a long ways from the NHL, though.
