Rajala is a skill player who needs to develop physically if he is to survive in the NHL. The problem for Rajala is that the Oilers are loaded with young talent in their organization, all fighting for a spot with the big team. He'll be in the minors this year.
Rajala is the type of player the Oilers seem to be loaded with. He has plenty of offensive talent but is simply too small to handle the rigors of a full NHL season. At 5-foot-10, 163 pounds, Rajala might not make it through a week in the NHL let alone a complete schedule. He will need to add some muscle to his frame before the Oilers can seriously consider him for the big club.
Rajala is a player to keep an eye on in the Oilers system as he can put the biscuit in the basket. Problem is he is going to play in Finland this season but the Oilers don't seem to mind as they believe this is another step in his development.
Rajala suffered a knee injury while playing in Finland. He will be fully recovered before the season starts, but will either play in Finland or the WHL this season.
