RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Nicholas Drazenovic.
Drazenovic signed with Pittsburgh in the summer and will likely start the season with AHL Wilkes-Barre. The 26-year-old center spent the majority of 2012-13 with AHL Springfield, notching 17 goals and 53 points in 62 games. In an eight-game audition with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Drazenovic went pointless with four penalty minutes. He's falling into the path of a career AHLer and will have to play better at the NHL level if he gets another chance in Pittsburgh.
Drazenovic made no impact at all in his first taste of the NHL last year, but the 25-year-old put together his best season to date on a point-per-game basis in the AHL, notching 13 goals and 41 points in 41 games. He joins the Blue Jackets on a two-way deal, but on a club as desperate for offense as Columbus will be without Rick Nash, expect Drazenovic to get every opportunity to win a regular spot in the Jackets' top nine. Remember his name in keeper leagues if he has a good training camp.
Minor league depth forward.
Drazenovic, who'll turn 24 during the season, is expected to open the 2010-11 season for the Peoria Rivermen, his fourth year in the AHL. His 19 goals were tied for team high, despite missing significant time due to injury, and he scored on 12.4 percent of his shots. He's a speedy skater with good skills, but doesn't play enough of a physical game, despite very good size. He'll be on the short list of candidates should the Blues need a forward for a quick callup.
