RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2015-16

There was no outlook written for David Broll.

2014-15

The Brolldozer got his first NHL point (an assist) and got into his first NHL fight (with the Preds' Matt Hendricks) in 2013-14. He only spent five games with the big club and toiled the rest of the year with the Marlies. There, the future fourth-line battering ram delivered 16 points (three goals, 13 assists) and 120 PIM. He'll earn his money using his fists and physicality, but don't use up a spot on your dynasty roster for him. His type are a dime a dozen.

2013-14

Last year in junior, the Brolldozer showed Leafs' brass that he could be more like David Clarkson and less like Colton Orr. And that's a good thing for the power forward. Two years ago, he fought everyone and got caught out of position ... a lot. But this past year, he still hit everything that moved, but he dropped his gloves less often. And he chipped in 17 goals and 54 points in 67 games. That's a big improvement from eight goals and 33 points in 59 contests in 2011-12. He's great in possession because of his size and he'll drive the net. Still, he'll get his first NHL job because of his fists and that time may not be far off. He'll play with the AHL Marlies in 2013-14 and could be a Colton Orr broken hand away from an NHL debut. Worst case scenario? Orr's contract is for two short seasons and then the Brolldozer will be up for good.

2012-13

The Brolldozer playes hockey the old-school way -- with his fists. But he can play a little, too. He'll be a fan favorite once he arrives in blue and white, but that won't be for a while. He'll be a sin-bin specialist in fantasy; don't waste a keeper spot on him.

2011-12

The Brolldozer is an impressive physical specimen whose truculence fits general manager Brian Burke's mold to a T. Broll is a 6-2, 230-pound winger who really impressed at rookie camp this summer. He played just 41 games last season because of a concussion but managed eight goals, 14 assists and 51 PIMs. He was one of the biggest players taken in the June draft and he must have seriously impressed the Leafs at the prospect camp -- it's rare for a sixth-round pick to get a contract this early. He'll toil for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL this season.
