Acquired in the trade that sent Ladislav Nagy to the Dallas Stars, Mathias Tjarnqvist showed promise late in the season. Underutilized in Dallas, Tjarnqvist found ice time right away and for 26 games, he scored five goals with four assists. He played strong defensively earning a minus two rating. If Tjarnqvist finds ice time this season, he could improve his numbers and find his way to the second or third lines for the Coyotes.

Tjarnqvist figures to be Dallas' extra forward most nights, playing exclusively in a checking role when he does play.

Has received praise in the past for his work along the boards, but it remains to be seen if that's enough to land him on one of Dallas' top two lines. Likely role is that of a checking winger.
