RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Martin Skoula.
Skoula has spent the last two seasons with Omsk of the KHL after a brief stint in New Jersey during 2009-10.
Remains with the KHL's Omsk in Russia, where he posted 22 points in 52 games.
Skoula will serve as Pittsburgh's seventh defenseman. He's averaged only 14 points in 81 games in his last three seasons, giving him little fantasy value going forward.
Skoula had 15 assists last season, which accounted for all of his points in 2007-08. He also only had 36 PIM. Don't expect enough of an improvement in those numbers to warrant a spot on your roster.
Skoula hasn't developed many skills on offense, but he's solid on defense and should get steady ice time. That won't make him an option in most fantasy leagues, however.
Skoula was once thought to be a rising fantasy star who could provide offense from the blue line, but his development stalled the last few years. Don't expect a revival on the defensive-minded Wild.
There's some upside if Dallas can help him recapture some of the magic back from his rookie season. They did it once with Darryl Sydor, and hope to do it again with Skoula.
