RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Tyler Sloan.
Sloan has made the rounds of minor-league hockey for the better part of the past decade, racking up just 99 games in the NHL since advancing as far as the AHL way back in 2002. He signed a two-way deal with Dallas for 2012-13 and he'll likely spend most of the year with the Texas Stars (AHL).
Sloan is that versatile player every team wishes they had. He was vital to the team last year filling in at forward and defense whenever needed. I do not see his role changing much, but securing a spot on the roster will be an interesting task. Either way he will be playing in the NHL this season.
Sloan split time between Washington and AHL Hershey last year and should see the same this year. Due to all the injuries last year, Sloan played in 26 games for the Caps, registering five points (1G,4A). He is a tough young defenseman, but with the young talent waiting to be given their chance in the NHL the team will probably keep him in Hershey most of the year.
Resident minor league thug.
Organizational filler at defense.
