The Flyers acquired McLeod from the Coyotes for right wing Eric Chouinard in a trade of minor leaguers on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The Flyers will take a little chance at McLeod's potential in exchange for the the depth (with little upside) that Chouinard provides. The 22-year-old McLeod has an assist and 33 penalty minutes in 28 games this season for the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL. The 6-foot-6 defenseman won't have value even with the trade, as he'll report to the Flyers' AHL affiliate -- the Phantoms. When he does get called up, he'll probably be a penalty minutes play and little else off the bat.

McLeod is a career minor-leaguer who hasn't seen any NHL playing time. At age 30, it's unlikely that 2013-14 will be his breakthrough season.
McLeod hasn’t seen AHL minutes since the 2007-08 season and has been playing in European professional leagues ever since. McCleod is highly unlikely to see any ice time with the Flyers this year.
McLeod has played overseas the past two years and doesn't figure to be a fantasy impact.
McLeod split last season between the AHL and ECHL. He is not going to make the Flyers.
