O'Brien has returned from overseas and has signed with the Rochester Americans for this season, according to reports from overseas.
ANALYSIS
O'Brien comes with a mighty pedigree -- he was the top defenseman in the QMJHL in 2002-03 -- and is just 24 years old. He couldn't replicate his offensive output when he last played in the AHL but he might have learned something in Finland last season. He's certainly not worth any attention right now but check back on him midseason. He might do better than last time.

2006 Fantasy Outlook
O'Brien is an offensive-minded defender who still needs a bit of seasoning in his own zone. He has an NHL future but there are a lot of other defensive prospects league-wide that we'd rate ahead of him right now.
