With 21 points in 82 games last season, Campbell is off the fantasy grid in most cases, but he provides the Bruins with plenty of intangibles, while centering the team’s fourth line and serving as a key penalty killer. It’s a role he’s set to reprise, though the departure of Shawn Thornton means that the composition of Campbell’s “merlot line" will be altered.
With 13 points in 48 games, Campbell wasn’t much of a fantasy factor this past season, but he provides the Bruins with plenty of intangibles, while centering the team’s effective fourth line and serving very capably as a penalty killer. His underrated value to the team was especially evident after he sustained a leg injury that forced him from last season’s playoffs. Campbell will be fully recovered for the coming season, where he’ll continue in his role as a valuable role player for the B’s.
Campbell scored just eight goals and 16 points in 78 games for the Bruins this past season, but he's a quality role player for the team, who will continue to earn his keep centering the B's very solid fourth line, while also contributing as a penalty killer. While he’s not afraid to drop the gloves, he doesn’t rack up PIMs at a prolific rate, having recorded 80 in 78 games in 2011-12 and 485 in 521 career games overall.
With 13 goals and 29 points in 80 games this past season, Campbell is not a great fantasy option given that he is a center. But for the Bruins, he's a tremendous fit as the pivot on the team's energy line and while he's not counted on as a sniper, he is a fine two-way player overall who is skilled enough to chip in some timely offense.
Campbell, who was acquired from Florida in June, essentially replaces Steve Begin as a member of the Bruins' energy line. He can help out as a penalty killer, but his offensive upside is limited, which minimizes his fantasy relevance in Boston.
Once billed as strictly an intangibles guy, Campbell surprised just about everyone with a line of 13-19—32 (all career highs) last season. But don’t expect a repeat performance. Florida is stacked with young skill guys, but not many checkers. Campbell will rarely see power-play time and may not have the luxury of playing with slick skaters often. Consider 32 points a ceiling, which makes him a marginal fantasy player at best.
Campbell is an intangibles kind of guy, which means he shouldn't be considered for fantasy teams unless you're in a league where only union representatives are eligible. And even then, he's still a bit of a stretch.
Campbell stuck with the big club for all of last season, but still only tallied nine points. Even if there were a rash of injuries to the Panthers' top six, Campbell wouldn't be considered an option to move up to a scoring role. Steer clear of him in fantasy drafts.
The Panthers like Campbell, but fantasy owners do not. He is the perfect mold of mobile fourth-liner, but will never put up numbers warranting fantasy attention.
A real character kind of player that will threaten to make the NHL squad out of camp, but don't let it fool you. A solid checking line forward that does all of the little things right. That said, he won't put up notable fantasy numbers.
