RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
Kassian is a bruising forward always willing to drop the mitts. The 6-foot-4, 232-pound Canadian produced a whopping 459 penalty minutes in 194 games with the Houston Aeros (AHL) over the past four seasons. He also made his debut with the Wild in 2010, having made four appearances with the parent club. Even if Kassian gets more playing time this season, his role is not likely to stretch beyond that of a fourth-line enforcer.
The LW will be making his NHL debut for Minnesota this season. Kassian isn't a scorer by any means, recording six points last season for Houston Aeros of the AHL. He spends a lot of his time in the penalty box, averaging 139.5 PIM in his last two seasons with Houston. If you're desperate for PIM, he may be worth keeping an eye on.
Kassian is yet to make his NHL debut after being selected in the second round of the 2005 draft. He's a bruiser that doesn't offer much beyond PIMs and will need one of Minnesota's goons to go down with injury before he gets his shot with the parent club.
The 2005 second-round pick is an enforcer who lacks an appetite for offense. Instead, Kassian feasts on physicality and penalty minutes, evident from having logged 162 PIM in 72 games for the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey league. Unless you are in a league that rewards heavily for PIM, Kassian will disappoint in fantasy leagues near you.
The 2005 second-round pick's fantasy value is with penalty minutes as he had eight goals and 162 penalty minutes in 72 games with Kamloops of the Western Hockey League last season.
Kassian will spend this season in the AHL.
Kassian is an enforcer who has no offensive skill and will be relegated to fourth-line status if he makes it to the NHL.
