RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2013-14

There was no outlook written for Per-Johan Axelsson.

2008-09

Axelsson, who finished last season with 13 goals, 29 points and 15 PIMs in 75 games, continues to earn his keep with his solid two-way play. His modest stats won't wow any fantasy owners, and he is pretty low on the B's upside food chain, but he remains a key role player for the B's.

2007-08

Axelsson is more of a defensive specialist than a scorer. His career high in points was 36 back in 2002-03 and he gets hurt a lot -- he's averaged just 61 games a season over the past four years. He's only worth drafting in very deep fantasy leagues.

2006-07

Alexsson may just be one of the best shutdown artists in the NHL. He's always assigned to the opposition's best line and he carries out his task in a dignified, gentlemanly way (that is, as dignified as a wet blanket can be). Axelsson is a guy you want on your real NHL team, not on your fantasy squad. If he hits 40 points this season, you will have witnessed a minor miracle.

2005-06

Axelsson is kind of like your best friend. He'll do anything you ask and will bust his hump on every project he helps you with. The trouble is, he's so focused on the task at hand (think checking) that he forgets he might be able to do something else (like score). P.J. is a fantastic checker who contributes to a real hockey team in ways he can never help a fantasy squad. Do not draft him.
