Danis-Pepin was assigned by the Blackhawks to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL in September. In the previous two seasons he spent time with both Rockford and Toledo of the ECHL.
Danis-Pepin finished off his 2009-10 season with Toledo of the ECHL. The 22-year-old defenseman had a goal and nine assists in 13 games for the Walleye and also notched a goal and three assists in four playoff games for the team. The 2006 second round draft pick started with Rockford of the AHL and then was demoted to Toledo. Last season was his first taste of professional hockey.
Danis-Papin was sent down to Rockford on Sept. 18. This is the first season in pro hockey for Danis-Papin after graduating from the University of Maine.
Danis-Pepin will spend the 2008-09 season playing in the NCAA for the University of Maine Black Bears. He was elected one of the team's captains for this season. He should spend the year honing his defensive skills. His minus-18 rating last season was a team low.
Danis-Pepin returned to the University of Maine for this season after being selected by the Hawks in the 2006 draft. At 6-feet-7-inches he is definitely someone to look at in the future.
The 18-year-old is still a few years away from making an NHL roster. Did not see much time last season at the University of Maine as he was one of the youngest players in college hockey. Had five assists in 25 games and added 14 penalty minutes.
Danis-Pepin is a monster. At 6'7" and 208 lbs, he is poised to develop into a Zdeno Chara-type player. Like all big men, he's a long-term project but he has some decent offensive skills. It will take a while but this guy will likely become a big minute muncher in all situations for the Blackhawks. He is expected to play the 06-07 and 07-08 seasons at the University of Maine.
