RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Kevin Marshall.
Marshall hasn't done much since the Flyers took him in the second round of the 2007 draft, but he is in competition to earn one of the last blueline spots for the Flyers out of training camp this fall.
Marshall is one of the prized prospects in the Flyers' system, but he's like a year or two from helping the parent club on a consistent basis. He could bounce back and forth for a bit.
In the second round, the Flyers traded up to obtain Marshall (41st overall), a blue line prowler that can put you through the boards if need be. He makes beautifully simple plays and always finds a way to separate opponents from the puck. Marshall will probably make the Phantoms squad this year and could move up to the big club because of an injury.
A left-shooting tough guy, Marshall isn't afraid of confrontation; he's a true Philly Flyer. He's not much for offense, choosing instead to focus on battling for the puck and pure annihilation. But he does have a decent first pass and works well within the transition game. He won't bring fantasy flavor but he'll be a steady NHLer for years.
