RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Nick Palmieri.
Received with Darroll Powe from Minnesota for Mike Rupp, the 24-year-old Palmieri has plenty of size (6'3, 230-pound) and 4-plus seasons of AHL experience. Originally drafted 79th overall in the 2007 entry draft, Palmieri (not related to Kyle Palmieri of Anaheim, by the way) has 13 goals, 12 assists and 20 penalty minutes in 87 career NHL games. More recently, he totaled 13 goals, 17 assists with a plus-12 rating in split time with the Houston Aeros and the Hartford Wolf Pack this past season. While we're hesitant to say he's fantasy irrelevant, we also suggest you monitor with cautious expectations.
Palmieri showed flashes of skill in 43 games with New Jersey last season, posting nine goals and 17 points. He's a young winger with offensive potential and will see power-play minutes sometime down the road. Palmieri is one of a handful of wingers whom the Devils will rely on for production and is worth a look in deep keeper leagues only.
The Devils signed Palmieri to a professional contract in Oct. of 2007.
