RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2014-15

There was no outlook written for Drayson Bowman.

2013-14

Bowman notched just five points in 37 games last season. Unfortunately, the offensive prowess that Bowman displayed in juniors (242 points over five years with WHL Spokane) has not carried over to his NHL career just yet, so expect him to continue in a checking-line capacity for the 'Canes for the time being.

2012-13

Recently signed to a two-year deal with the Hurricanes organization, the second season of which is a one-way, $600,000 agreement, suggesting the 'Canes front office expects him to contribute to the big club in 2013-2014, Bowman has the makings of an everyday NHL forward somewhere down the line. Do not, however, mistake that offensive potential as relevance for this upcoming season. Bowman notched 13 points in 37 NHL games last season, chipping in another 26 in 42 AHL contests with Charlotte.

2011-12

Bowman is another young gun in the Carolina development system hoping to get a shot at the big time this season. The 6-foot center was unremarkable for the Hurricanes last year, having totaled just one assist for his only point in 23 NHL games. He has the talent necessary to be a physical force at the next level, but will most likely be assigned to a checking role if he wins a roster spot with a solid camp.

2010-11

One of the Hurricanes' best prospects, Bowman ripped through the Junior league, posting 242 points (130G, 112A) after five years with the Spokane Chiefs of the WHL. Bowman's agility and natural scoring touch should give him an extra push as he looks for a stable role in the NHL ahead of the 2010-11 season.

2009-10

Bowman is a highly touted prospect who has a good chance of cracking the ‘Canes lineup in 2009-10. Blazing speed is his strong suit, but he’s also known to pack a hard shot. His resume features playing time with Spokane of the WHL, a team that he recorded 165 points with over the past two seasons. The future looks bright for Bowman, even if he’s less hyped than fellow ‘Canes prospects Zach Boychuk and Brandon Sutter.

2008-09

One part sniper, one part garbageman, and two parts speedster, Bowman is just 19 and will likely return for one more WHL season. His upside is significant, but it's a few years away.
